This Friday (February 16, 2007) is the deadline to apply for 911±¬ÁÏÍø scholarships created as part of the legal settlement of a class action lawsuit regarding past educational fees charged by the institution. Applications, which must be made online, are for scholarships covering the academic period of Summer 2007 through Spring 2008.
The scholarships are available to qualifying students, their spouses and children attending any of the four campuses of the 911±¬ÁÏÍø. Qualifying students attended one of the campuses of the 911±¬ÁÏÍø as resident undergraduates between January 1995 and August 2001, and were above the age of 16 and below the age of 22.
As part of the legal settlement, the 911±¬ÁÏÍø placed $10 million into a fund to pay for the scholarships starting in Fall 2006. During 2006, a total of 1,875 scholarships were awarded across the four campuses, with a dollar value of $933,466.72.
For 2007-2008, scholarships awarded will be in the amount of $515, but shall not exceed the amount of educational fees or tuition charged by the University to the eligible recipient during the semester for which the scholarship is applied. The scholarships are in the form of a credit against current educational fees and/or tuition. Unused individual scholarship awards may not be carried over to another semester by the recipient. Applicants will be notified about their scholarships around April 1, 2007.
