911±¬ÁÏÍø Board of Curators elects officers for 2012

Board also approves new committee assignments

David R. Bradley of St. Joseph was elected to a one-year term as Chairman of the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Board of Curators during the board’s meeting Dec.8-9 in St. Louis. Wayne Goode of St. Louis was elected Vice Chairman. The leadership terms for Bradley and Goode begin Jan. 1, 2012.

Bradley, who served this year as the board’s Vice Chairman, succeeds Warren K. Erdman of Kansas City, whose board term as Chairman expires Dec. 31. Bradley currently is Chairman of the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Board of Curators’ Compensation and Human Resources Committee and a member of the Executive and Finance committees.

Bradley is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of News-Press & Gazette Company of St. Joseph. He also is active in his community, having served as past president of the Missouri and Northwest Missouri Press Associations and the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce. He currently is a member of the board of directors of the St. Joseph Business Park Corporation and UMB Financial Corporation, as well as a trustee of the Midwest Research Institute.

Bradley graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science.

Goode currently serves as Chairman of the Audit Committee and belongs to the Finance and Academic, Student and External Affairs committees. He was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 1962 and the Missouri Senate in 1984. He represented the 13th Senatorial District in St. Louis County until his retirement in January 2005. From 1995 to 2000, he served as Vice Chairman and then Chairman of the Missouri Senate Appropriations Committee. 

He is a member of numerous boards and serves as Chairman of the Missouri State Capitol Commission. He also serves on the board of the Missouri Historical Society, and is Treasurer of the Missouri Foundation for Health and the L-A-D Foundation.

Goode received a bachelor’s degree in banking and finance from the 911±¬ÁÏÍø-Columbia and a Doctorate of Laws Honoris Causa degree from the 911±¬ÁÏÍø-St. Louis.

The board also approved standing committee assignments, including those for recently appointed curators Pamela Q. Henrickson of Jefferson City and Craig A. Van Matre of Columbia. Henrickson will serve on the Academic, Student and External Affairs Committee as well as the Governance, Resources and Planning Committee. Van Matre will serve on the Audit and Academic, Student and External Affairs Committee. (For a complete list, see list below.)

The Board of Curators is the governing body of the 911±¬ÁÏÍø and consists of nine members who are appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. Curators serve six-year terms with three terms expiring every two years.
