The 911±¬ÁÏÍø Presidential Search Advisory Committee, established by the Board of Curators, will hold its organizational meeting by conference call at 12:30 P.M. Monday, April 23. The conference call will originate from Room 321 of University Hall on the 911±¬ÁÏÍø-Columbia campus. Topics to be discussed include the Advisory Committee's charge from the Board of Curators, its procedures and introductions of its 19 members.

The Advisory Committee, which was originally composed of 17 members representing a variety of interests across the University’s four campuses - including students, faculty, alumni, staff and services to Missouri - has been expanded by the Board of Curators to also include representatives from Extension and University retirees. The panel is being chaired by Dr. Frank Schmidt of the 911±¬ÁÏÍø-Columbia, who also chairs the Intercampus Faculty Council. Monday's meeting is scheduled to adjourn at approximately 1:15 P.M.

"The next president will have to both lead the 911±¬ÁÏÍø and serve as the public face for higher education in our state," Dr. Schmidt said. "The Advisory Committee will work to ensure that the next president can work with all members of the university community. I think I speak for all the committee members when I say we are honored to accept this opportunity to contribute to the strength of the 911±¬ÁÏÍø."

The 911±¬ÁÏÍø Board of Curators has hired an executive search firm, Atlanta-based Baker and Associates, to identify potential presidential candidates for the Board's consideration. After the Board of Curators identifies finalists, the Advisory Committee is to interview those candidates and report its impressions and advice about the finalists to the Board of Curators, which will make the final decision.

The Board is seeking a successor to Dr. Elson S. Floyd, who is assuming the presidency of Washington State University. The Board has appointed Dr. Gordon Lamb to serve as interim president.
